School year has started again for me. Summer is now officially made way for Fall.
Let’s do this.
In 2020, an unfathomable amount of digital activity is occurring at any given moment. This ongoing explosion in activity is the aggregate output of 4.5 billion internet users today, a number that's projected to increase even further in coming…
Clo WillaertsThe 2020 version of the well-known Every Minute of the Day infographic. Isn’t it beautiful? Even more interesting is what was added in this 2020 version. The Three Kings of the Apocalypse:

Clo WillaertsThis was a really good post on why TikTok is on fire and Quibi isn't : “on mobile, entertainment value is the byproduct of production value and social value. This formula generates an efficient frontier of product/market fit”.
Explainer videos that use whiteboard animation have become a cliché in their own right. And then I saw After Skool 's video illustrating the core concept of professor Jordan B. Peterson's Biblical Series: the importance of having a noble aim…
Clo WillaertsI have been binge watching Canadian clinical psychologist and professor of psychology Jordan B. Peterson’s Biblical Series the past few weeks. I’m not a big fan of his political ideas, but I can see why he’s so popular with the lost generation of white male millennials. Professor Peterson uses Carl Jung’s concept of archetypes and applies them to stories in the Old Testament. It worked for me: it brought more order in my chaos. Let me know what you think.
Techies hailed USB-C as the future of cables when it hit the mainstream market with Apple's single-port MacBook in 2015. It was a huge improvement over the previous generation of USB……
Clo WillaertsUSB-C is near-ubiquitous: Almost every modern laptop and smartphone has at least one USB-C port, with the exception of the iPhone, which still uses Apple's proprietary Lightning port. For all its improvements, USB-C has become a mess of tangled standards -- a nightmare for consumers to navigate despite the initial promise of simplicity.

Clo WillaertsWhat began as a single project by artist Ingrid Schreyers spurred a municipality-wide initiative: the government of Schaerbeek, a suburb bordering the city of Brussels, now installs any mosaic, either created by residents or a local artist, free of charge. Many people are choosing portraits of their cats.
Becoming an expert in anything, whether it's wine tasting or mathematics, changes the way you perceive the world. Expertise is less about knowledge and more about observing things that elude novices. Through training, experts learn to see, taste…
Clo WillaertsCognitive scientist Ann-Sophie Barwich says that Descartes was wrong. Our senses do not 'deceive' us, but instead are built on experience. In the act of learning a skill (whether it's wine-tasting or mathematics) we don't just change our brains, we alter our consciousness, allowing us to perceive more of the world. 'Sensory expertise enrichens the content of conscious awareness.'

Clo WillaertsFrom the excellent Future Brunch conversation # 6, with Philosopher Bayo Akomolafe: “I feel this is the time for us to notice the portal in the sky or the rip or the rupture in the ground and say, 'That's an opportunity right there.' We've been gifted an opening from the powers that be to do some work in this crack in the ground.”
Reminded me of the Leonard Cohen quote: “There’s a crack in everything. This is how the light gets in.”
DMT is arguably the most powerful psychedelic drug on the planet, capable of producing intense hallucinations. Researchers recently surveyed more than 2,000 DMT users about their encounters with 'entities' while tripping, finding that respondents…
Clo WillaertsPeople who use powerful hallucinogenic drug DMT often report encountering “entities” while tripping. These “DMT beings” may be nothing more than projections of the subconscious mind. But these bizarre encounters do help some people find real meaning, whether it's through personal revelation or the raw power of ontological shock.
